Medical Assistance Course (0E-11)

Duration: 6 Weeks

Purpose: To train selected noncommissioned officers and civilians to perform lifesaving measures and apply advanced field medical care under simulated or actual conditions.

Scope: This course develops medical skills required of personnel serving a community. In addition to the basic lifesaver measures, students gain advanced knowledge of the human anatomy, treatment of complicated injuries, fluid replacement, splinting, suturing, etc. Students also receive training beneficial to tactical units with civic-action missions. This type of training consists of water purification, emergency childbirth and minor surgical procedures. Graduation requires successful completion of the expert field medical course where students demonstrate their medical skills, under stress, in simulated conditions.
