This
database offers the most comprehensive information publicly available
on U.S. defense and security assistance programs in Latin America and
the Caribbean: arms transfers and sales, training programs, bases, exercises,
and the laws that govern them.
The Latin America Working Group Education Fund, the Center for International Policy and the Washington Office on Latin America maintain this website to promote transparency in U.S. military programs. We hope this site is a useful resource for journalists, scholars, students, congressional staff, government officials and interested U.S. and Latin American citizens seeking to understand and influence U.S. military programs and policy. The website is based entirely on U.S. official government sources. It pulls together information from a range of such sources to provide as comprehensive as possible a picture of U.S. training and assistance programs to each country in the region. We wish to thank the Open Society Institute Development Foundation, the Ford Foundation and the Compton Foundation for their support for this project. |
