IMET: Dominican Republic
The following description of the IMET program for the Dominican Republic comes from the U.S. State Department's April 2002 FY2003 Congressional Budget Justification for Foreign Operations:1

International Military Education and Training (IMET) funds will be used primarily to provide professional training designed to increase awareness on the part of the Dominican security forces of their role and responsibility for ensuring that human rights are respected while strengthening the rule of law.
