The following
description of the IMET program for Honduras comes from the U.S. State Department's
April 2002 FY2003 Congressional Budget Justification for Foreign Operations:1
The
International Military Education and Training (IMET) program for Honduras
will help consolidate civilian control of the military through training
programs and participation in regional military exchanges/programs.
IMET
courses taken by Honduran personnel, 2001:2
Funding amounts
and numbers of students may not match the numbers indicated in the table
on the main IMET page. This owes to (1) discrepancies
between two Department of Defense source documents, and/or (2) the possibility
that some students took more than one course.
