Exercises: Skills Exchange

Definition:

Skills exchange exercises are joint engineering exercises in which U.S. and foreign troops carry out humanitarican civic assistance activities. These activities include the construction of schools, wells, clinics, bridges and roads, and the provision of medical, dental, and veterinary services.

Skills Exchange Package Fiscal year 1997
Location: El Salvador
Purpose: Construction skills (vertical)
Sponsor: Commander-in-chief, Atlantic Fleet (CINCLANTFLT)
U.S. Participants: Active and reserve
Other Participants: El Salvador/ Honduras/ Guatemala
Duration: 4 weeks
Dates: 1 June- 30 June 1997

Skills Exchange Package Fiscal year 1997
Location: Chile
Purpose: Construction skills (Pioneer highway constructions)
Sponsor: (SouthAF)
U.S. Participants: Active-duty troops
Other Participants: Chile/ Argentina/ Brazil
Duration: 6 weeks
Dates: 1 March- 15 April 1997
