Location:
Coast Guard Training Center, Petaluma, CA Scope1This course is designed to train Coast Guard personnel assigned to law enforcement duties to perform the tasks of a boarding team member by providing basic entry level skills. Topics covered include documentation and equipment requirements for U.S. vessels, an overview of Coast Guard authority and jurisdiction, the recognition of possible violations of U.S. laws, search and seizure procedures, arrest and prisoner control, proper use of the narcotics identification kit, Coast Guard's use of force policy, defensive tactics (i.e., unarmed defense, handcuffing, and the use of impact weapons), and boarding procedures and techniques.
