DynCorp Pilot Killed In Aerial Eradication Mission, U.S. Embassy Bogotá, March 18, 2002
The Embassy can confirm that a non-U.S. citizen Dyncorp contractor was killed at about 8:00 a.m., March 18, when his OV-10 spray plane apparently hit a tree while on a routine aerial eradication mission south of Larandia. The aircraft, the third of five planes flying in formation, exploded on impact. There were no reports of ground fire in the area.

The body of the pilot has been recovered. We will be conducting an investigation with Colombian authorities. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
