The
FARC declared an armed strike in Arauca, forcing all public transportation
to stop operating. According to Arauca's Government Secretary
local transportation went down 50% despite the high police and
military presence throughout the department.
In
a public statement, General Gustavo Matamoros, commander of the
army's XVIII Brigade denounced the FARC for pressuring local communities
to join the protest.

people from Puerto Lleras were displaced to the Venezuelen state
of Apure. The number of Colombian refugees in the state has grown
from 299 in January to 1,117 in June.

As
a result of the FARC's 40-year anniversary the group has declared
an armed strike on all economic activities in the region, threatening
to burn any vehicle traveling through the regions highways. According
to the Arauca Chamber of Commerce, this strike will result in
the loss of close to 6,000 million pesos for the region.
