COMMISSIONER OF PEACE ASKS FOR TRUST IN THE PROCESSES WITH FARC AND ELN

Cantagallo (Bolivar), Mar., 16 , 2001 (ANCOL). -

The High Commissioner of Peace, Camilo Gomez, asked for trust in the peace processes the Government is developing with the guerrilla groups.

During the work meeting with the population of San Pablo and Cantagallo-possible headquarters of the Encounter Zone-Gomez insisted that there will be full constitutional, administrative and judicial guarantees.

This second Work Table -the first one was carried out yesterday in San Pablo-started at 10:55 local hour, in the school "San Luis Gonzaga."

The following personalities participated in the meeting: Camilo Gomez Alzate; Mauricio Gonzalez, Viceminister of Interior; Jorge Mario Eastman, Sub-commissioner; Jaime Bernal Cuellar and Maria Emma Mejia, in representation of the Facilitator Commission of Peace Process with the ELN; Luis Daniel Vargas, Governor of Bolivar; Jose Maria Cuellar, major of Cantagallo; and Leyla Isabel Iglesias, President of the municipal council.

The Commissioner reiterated that the first negotiation point with the ELN will be the agreement about International Humanitarian Law and about the stop of attacks to electric and oil infrastructure in the country.
