fund the transfer of six Blackhawks for the Colombian National
Police at a cost of $72 million.

Appropriations Committee report language accompanying the Foreign
Operations Appropriations Act for 1998 required the Secretary
of State to provide "a report detailing the security needs
in Latin America and the impact of lifting the existing U.S. ban
on high technology weapons sales to the region." This report,
due on February 24, 1998, was recently submitted and is available
on this web site.
